The mainstream materials for fluent edge barriers (side guardrails) are divided into two categories: metal (aluminum alloy/carbon steel) and plastic (PVC/PP/ABS), with a few using stainless steel.

1、 Metal edging (most commonly used, load-bearing/wear-resistant)
Aluminum alloy (A6063-T5): lightweight, anodized rust proof, quiet, medium load-bearing (about 30-50kg/m), most universal.

Carbon steel/sheet metal (SPCC): high strength, low cost; Galvanized/baked paint rust proof surface, preferred for heavy loads (up to 80-100kg/m).

Stainless steel (304): corrosion-resistant, food/clean area specific, high price.

2、 Plastic edging (lightweight/silent/low-cost)
PVC: hard, wear-resistant, flame-retardant, and inexpensive; Low temperature brittleness, not resistant to high temperatures (<60 ℃), commonly used in ordinary environments.

PP (polypropylene): good toughness, fatigue resistance, temperature resistance (-20~100 ℃), food grade; Can be used as an anti-static product.
ABS: impact resistance, good rigidity, easy coloring; Commonly used in conventional environments, ABS+conductive agent is commonly used for anti-static products.

3、 Material comparison and selection
Aluminum alloy: preferred, balancing lightweight, strength, rust resistance, and price.
Carbon steel sheet metal: heavy-duty/low-cost, requiring rust prevention treatment.
PVC: Ordinary light load/low budget, avoid high/low temperature.
PP: Food/Medical/Temperature Resistant Scenarios.
Stainless steel: clean/corrosive environment.
